The vaccination drive is a praiseworthly effort by the government to ensure the health and wellbeing of its people including the marginalised, poor, immune compromised and the young in every comer of the state. Taking vaccination for Covid-19 is the need of the hour and the faster we achieve the taget, the better it will be for a populous state like Uttar Pradesh, which has a lot at stake. Vaccination not only helps people build their own protection but also protects their families, children aging parents and community. Everyone should get the Jab. As a doctor, I encourage all my patients and their accompanying persons to get vaccinated. All doctors, teachers, social workers, religious leaders should also come forward. Celebrities hold a lot of sway in public life. The taboo surrounding tuberculosis got dispelled quite a bit once Amtiabh Bachchan came forward and informed people that he himself had it sometime in early 2000s. There are lots of religious discourses on televison everyday, they could be requested to encourage people for this start or end of their talk. A printed message may run at bottom during the program. Sops like free fruit juices after vaccination (like that given after blood donation) arranged by NGO's or society might also help. Everyone should get two jabs to protect life. The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved increased subsidies of Rs 14,776 crore for Di-ammonium Phosphate and some other non-rea fertilisers to keep the price of low despite the rising costs of raw materials. DAP is the most widely used soil nutrient after urea. Last month, the Centre had decided to increase the subsidy on DAP fertiliser by 140%.
